Guy Broadbent - President and CEO
Mr. Broadbent joined Xcellerex in April 2010 as President and Chief Executive Officer. He also serves as a member of Xcellerex’s Board of Directors. Mr. Broadbent came to Xcellerex after a 25-year career, including substantial experience in the life sciences sector, most recently at Thermo Fisher Scientific where he served in a number of senior positions, including President of the $1.8 billion Laboratory Products Division, and most recently, Senior Vice President, Corporate Development.
Thomas Monath, M.D. - Partner, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers
Dr. Monath is a Partner, Pandemic and Biodefense Fund, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. He is also Adjunct Professor, Harvard School of Public Health. Between 1992 and 2006, Dr Monath was Chief Scientific Officer and an Executive Director, Acambis (a publicly traded biopharmaceutical company) where he directed R&D on dengue, West Nile, Japanese encephalitis, yellow fever, Clostridium difficile, and smallpox vaccines for defense against bioterrorism. Monath received his undergraduate degree from Harvard College and M.D. from Harvard Medical School and trained in internal medicine at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, Boston. COL Monath retired from the US Army in 1992 after 24 years in the uniformed services. Between 1973-1988, he was Director, Division of Vector-Borne Viral Diseases, Centers for Disease Control, Fort Collins CO and from 1989-92 Chief, Virology Division, US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID). He is on the editorial board of 5 scientific journals. He received the Nathanial A. Young Award (1984), the Richard M. Taylor Award (1996), and the Walter Reed Medal (2002) from the American Society of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene and was President of that Society (2004-05). He has served on numerous government and international committees on infectious diseases, biosecurity, World Health Organization expert committees and the National Vaccines Advisory Committee (USA). Dr. Monath has published over 340 papers and edited 6 books on the epidemiology, immunology and pathogenesis of viruses and on vaccine development.
Boris Lipkin - Venture Partner, VantagePoint Venture Partners
Boris is a partner in the VantagePoint Venture Partners Healthcare Practice Group, where he brings over 30 years of operating and high technology experience. Previously he served as the President and CEO of Therma-Wave, Inc., a NASDAQ listed semiconductor equipment company. He also served as Executive Vice President of ASML/Silicon Valley Group, Inc. and as Vice President and General Manager of Varian Associates after spending over 15 years in various management and engineering positions at IBM. In 2005 he was awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor. Boris has a MS in Electro Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from Stanford University.
David J. Williams - chairman and CEO (retired), sanofi pasteur
David J. Williams, is the retired Chairman & CEO of sanofi pasteur, the vaccines business of sanofi-aventis Group. His 30-year tenure with the company was marked by his rise from Finance Manager to President and CEO. His leadership moved the company from a niche vaccine business to the global leader in vaccine development, production and sales. In addition, he was Chairman of the company's board of directors and a Co-Chair of the Supervisory Board of Sanofi Pasteur MSD, a 50-50 joint venture with Merck & Co. that markets and distributes vaccines in Europe. Prior to sanofi, Mr. Williams spent more than five years at Pricewaterhouse Coopers in their Audit and Healthcare Consulting Group. Mr. Williams serves on the Board of Directors of the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), AllOne Health Group, VaxInnate , Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania and the Hospital Service Association of Northeastern Pennsylvania. For many years, he has been affiliated with the University of Scranton, from which he has his undergraduate degree, is a past member of the Board of Trustees and Board of Regents. He is also one of the founding Board Members of the Medical Education Development Consortium, which is creating the first medical college in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Mr. Williams is currently a consultant to several vaccine and biotech companies.
Scot Galliher - SG Capital
Scot is a founding investor in Xcellerex. He has spent 25 years working with high growth companies in the financial services industry. Most recently he advised J. Joe Ricketts, Chairman of Ameritrade, on the $3.5 billion merger of Ameritrade and TD Waterhouse and the purchase of a minority stake in Ameritrade by TD Bank. Previously Mr. Galliher was a senior executive at Shinsei Bank in Japan in charge of Electronic Commerce and a partner at Conning Capital Partners, a mid-sized venture capital firm investing $550 million in high growth financial services companies. Prior to that Scot co-founded the Financial Institutions Technology Group at Goldman Sachs where he specialized in online banks, brokerages and electronic exchanges and worked on approximately $3 billion in mergers, IPO's, and debt transactions.
